Star ratings explained

Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Medicare uses information from member satisfaction surveys and health care providers to give overall performance star ratings to plans. A plan can get a rating between 1 and 5 stars. A 5-star rating is considered excellent. These ratings can help you compare plans based on quality and performance.

Quality health care

The Sharp Direct Advantage network and its providers participate in a variety of national quality measurement programs to determine plan performance and measure the health improvement of our members. These programs include, but are not limited to:

  • Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS)
  • Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS)
  • Health Outcomes Survey (HOS)
  • National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Accreditation
  • Medicare Star Ratings
